General information/History


Nordheim Fjellstue is known for its` warm and relaxing atmosphere, excellent food, top service and reasonable prices!

We also arrange celebration dinners, christenings, weddings, family reunions, small conferences, weekends for; Ski training, school orchestras, business’s etc.

The mountains around Nordheim are fantastic both summer & winter, and only a short distance away.
This skiing area is easily accessible outside the door or to the peaks, either by car or public transport (6 km or 10 minutes drive).  During the winter you also have the possibility of coming to the tops with the use of the ski lift at ”Skarslia” 500 km from Nordheim.
 
Nordheim Fjellstue is a family run mountain lodge, which has been in the Nordheim family since 1925.

Today it is run by the third generation of the family, Per and Wendy, who both have hotel experience.
The lodge was extended in 1981 and all the rooms were renovated in 1993/1994. Most of the rooms have private shower and toilet. In 1997 a further extension was added with a new dining room.

The lodge has large public rooms and many activities including a pool table, table tennis, sauna and TV lounge.



History
It all started with Birgit Nordheim (Grandmother of today’s owner), who started with a cafe and rooms to travelers on horseback who were travelling over the mountains and needed a place to rest. Later her son Sigmund and wife Astrid overtook.                                                                                                                                                                         
In the 1950`s  Sigmund and Astrid extended the lodge i connection with construction and building of the dams in for the power industry in the nearby mountains. A later extension came in 1981.
    
I 1991 their son Per and wife Wendy (who was born and spent the first 22 years of her life in England) took over the fjellstua/lodge,and modernized most of the lodge.
The last extension was in 1997, the new and larger dining room was built. Winter 2012 we have renovated  reception area


Todays host/hostess
Per is trained as a hotell chef, and is known for his fantastic cusine. He has experience from some of Norway`s well known hotels, he has worked in England
 and on the oil platforms in the Norwegian sea.

Wendy is also educated in the hotell business. She has eduation from catering college in England, She has experience from reception, housekeeping and restaurant. She has work experience from Engalnd, Switzerland and of course Norway.
Wendy and Per both have experience sice the end of the 1970`s.


Nordheim has many guests who return year after year and this is an example of the guests enjoying their stay and feeling welcome!
