In Vats it is possible to go skiing from middle of November through to end of April. In Ål there are a total of 400 km prepared and marked ski tracks and two ski-centres; Ål ski–centre 15 km from Nordheim and Skarslia ski-centre 500 m from Nordheim. At Nordheim you can fasten on your skis` outside the lodge door and you find yourself at the start of the tracks! The mountains around Nordheim are fantastic during the winter, and only a short distance away. The skiing area is easily accessible with either car or public transport (6 km or 10 minutes drive), during the winter you also have the possibility of coming to the tops with the use of the ski lift at ”Skarslia” 500 km from Nordheim. If the bad weather takes its toll in the mountains maybe the forest tracks or area outside the lodge are preferable.
Other activities which can be arranged at Nordheim or close by are horse & sleigh rides, ski sailing, kite sailing, dog sledging, ski races, sledging, also moonlit sledging and our popular slide shows, ice fishing, snow walking.
If you would like a break from skiing you have a wide opportunity to choose between In Ål. You could visit the Nesch Museum, go to the cinema, visit Ål Church, or the Stave Church at Torpo or visit Hallingdal Nature & Enviromental Center.
At nearby hotels it is possible to use both Jacuzzi and swimming pools
